  Thought for the Week Topic 12: Exponential Functions We will start off this week by taking a deeper look at the concept of "interest".  Students have already talked about simple interest and compounded interest.  On Monday, we will talk about interest that is compounded continuously.  We have already talked about how interest can be written as an exponential equation.  We will then talk about different exponential models that exist in the "real world".  We will wrap up the week by looking at how exponential functions can be transformed.

  Thought for the Week   Topic 12: Exponential and Logarithmic Relationships We are now on to the second semester!  Everyone will be starting out with a "clean slate"!  What will you write on yours as we get started? In Topic 12, we will take a look at exponential functions.  We studied these way back at the beginning of the school year.  We examined functions that rapidly increased or rapidly decreased over time.  It is time to take a closer look at these functions. This week, we will be looking at the patterns we can find within exponential functions and learn how to write equations.  At the end of the week, we will take a look at how exponential functions may impact our daily lives through "interest".   Let's start the semester off on the right foot.  I am here to support you and your learning.  Be sure to ADVOCATE for yourself and your needs throughout the semester.

Thought for the Week Wrapping Up Topic 8: Rational Expressions and Starting Topic 9 During class on Monday, we will complete our topic 8 summative assessment.  For the rest of the week, students will work with topic 9 where we will apply our knowledge of simplifying rational expressions to solving  rational equations.  Students should expect to complete our topic 9 benchmark assessment during our exam period during exam week.
