Thought for the Week Topic 18: Trigonometry in General Triangles This week, we will continue our study of trigonometry in general triangles.  We will continue to work with the Law of Sines, which uses pairs of sides and angles, to solve for missing measures.  We will also address the "ambiguous case" where we can deal with the possiblity of more than one triangle.  Once we have worked with the Law of Sines, we will move on to the Law of Cosines.  With the Law of Cosines, students will learn to look for three side lengths in a triangle to solve for a missing angle or for "SAS", or side-angle-side, to solve for a missing side measurement.

Thought for the Week   Modified Schedule for the Week.  As a reminder, Freshmen and Sophomores will complete the ACT Secure and Juniors will complete the ACT on Tuesday, April 9th.  This will lead to a modified schedule for the rest of the week.  Monday will be a "Tuesday"-style schedule.  On Tuesday, we will complete standardized testing.  The rest of the week will proceed as scheduled. Topic 16: Trigonometric Functions On Monday of this week, we will take a brief break from our topic 16 study to focus on some tips and tricks for completing the math portion of the ACT.  Students will be encouraged to practice working with the Desmos calculator, which has been built-in to the online version of the ACT.  We will also review some important concepts and talk about how to narrow down our answer choices. For the rest of the week, we will take a look at "Exploring Tangents" and start reviewing for our summative assessment.
